Is it possible to hide or remove the panel tab header for a UXP panel in Premiere Pro?

,

Hi all,

I’m building a UXP panel plugin for Premiere Pro (version 26.5.1 build 1 UXP manifest v5, Windows 11) and I’d like to know if there is any supported way to hide or remove the panel’s tab header, the strip at the top of the panel that shows the panel name and the hamburger menu.

What I’ve checked so far:

  • The manifest panel entrypoint options (label, minimumSize, maximumSize, preferredDockedSize, etc.). None of them seems to affect the header.
  • The UXP docs and the Premiere UXP docs. I couldn’t find an API or manifest field for it.
  • Switching to a command entrypoint with a dialog. That works, but it isn’t a persistent docked panel, so it doesn’t fit my use case.

My questions:

  1. Is there any manifest option or API (current or planned) to hide or customize the panel header?
  2. If not, is the header considered part of the host’s UI that plugins can’t change?
  3. Is there a recommended way to get a compact or headerless look, for example for toolbar-style panels?

Thanks in advance for any info.

  1. No.
  2. Yes.
  3. No.

Sorry to not be more helpful with your enquiry; no 3rd party access to tab headers is planned or scheduled.

It can be nice at least when doing multiple panel to be able to hide header from the second panel

Agreed…

Those headers are not (in our UI framework) part of each panel; they’re part of our panel management system. If we started allowing some-but-not-all panels to hide their headers, it’d become (even more?) confusing, to try to manage panel wells full of different panels.
