There was a mention of getting a proper way to do automated testing for plugin UIs using WebDriver. When can we expect it? (and can I hazz early beta?)
It was shipped years ago in the official UXP CLI tool. But it took me weeks to make it work

Turns out this is another great reason for using webviews. Playwright works with them out-of-the box.

Yes I think you are right! But I think the only difference is that someone dedicated enough time to make fine-tuned tool like that. Adobe has enough resources to make tools that work out of the box if they want to.
It is sad to watch Adobe lagging behind Microsoft and Google when it comes to 3rd party developers.
