Is Layer In A Group?

Using API 2 does anyone know how to find out if the active Layer is in a Group

For Example: is Curves1 in a Group

Maybe parentLayerID would work?! I guess it’s -1 for the curves layer when it’s not inside a group. If it is inside a group, then the parentLayerID is whatever the ID from the group is … but I haven’t tested this. Maybe there are layer setups where this doesn’t work?!
