Repeat Grid pluginData setting when not selected?

Before I try this, is a plugin allowed to officially set pluginData on a Repeat Grid node when it’s not in the edit context?

I know I can try, but I wanted to be sure of the API intent (@peterflynn?) before depending on the current behavior.

If not, it sure would be a great feature request to be able to do so.

The main use case would be to “pin” data on the Repeat Grid group for later use when it’s selected and editable.

Note: This isn’t about setting pluginData on a child of a Repeat grid node, just on the node itself.
