Does anyone have an idea when UXP will come out for After Effects?
I’m not allowed to give the timeline yet, but you can expect to hear more about later this year.
I believe the current order is: Premiere –> Adobe Media Encoder –> After Effects
Would love to hear about your use case. ![]()
Media Encoder??? Before After Effects or Illustrator?
Hey Erin, thanks for the answer.
Right now I’m trying to learn how to make extensions for After Effects. During my research I saw somewhere that UXP is much easier to learn than CEP, so I thought maybe I should wait until After Effects fully moves to UXP before I start learning. Do you think that’s a good decision?
Also, if you have time, I would really appreciate it if you could recommend some online resources to learn how to build extensions for Creative Cloud.
Thanks again!
Media Encoder is a lot less complicated and has many more dependencies on Premiere, as is my understanding of that decision.
I wouldn’t necessarily wait, depending on your use case. You could get started writing scripts or writing C++ plug-ins now, here’s a good explainer: Scripts vs Extensions vs Plugins — Blog | Hyper Brew
I would avoid writing a very complicated CEP UI at this time… but if you’re an experienced developer and in a hurry, you could.
Sure, I’d get started here:
Or for UXP:
For Premiere CEP or current After Effects, I like this guide:
