Can UXP/CEP be installed from the Creative Cloud app?

When listing a CEP on the Marketplace, it’s necessary to fill out the Where to find it field.

I used to prefer writing that it could be installed via the Creative Cloud desktop app, but it now seems only the management of already installed UXP/CEP is possible.

The documentation doesn’t explicitly state that it’s impossible, but where can clear guidance be found regarding whether installation is possible or not? Is there anyone who can clarify whether this is possible or not?

Hello again,

I’m a little confused here and need clarification.

This part:

only the management of already installed UXP/CEP is possible

Do you mean that installing a new UXP/CEP plugin is not possible?

where can clear guidance be found regarding whether installation is possible or not? Is there anyone who can clarify whether this is possible or not?

So… yes you can install CEP (.ZXP) or UXP (.CCX) plugins either via the Creative Cloud desktop app or the UPIA command line tool, or in the case of UXP, but double clicking the .CCX package, or by using a third party (non-Adobe) installer like Anastasiy’s or ZXPInstaller…

But I’m sure you already know all of that.

I can’t tell if you’re experiencing installation failures or are just pointing out a documentation gap of some sort

Sorry, the meaning was unclear.

In other words, it’s about whether users can install and buy UXP/CEP plugins listed on Adobe Exchange—but which they haven’t installed yet—from the Adobe Creative Cloud.app on their desktop.

On the help page, there is an “All plugins” category in the side navigation, which allows users to browse, install, and buy plugins. That used to be the case in my environment as well.

However, at some point, the “All plugins” category disappeared, and now only “Manage plugins” is displayed in that location. This has made it unclear to users whether they can install plugins from the desktop app.

Is this display the expected state for Adobe, or is it just my environment not working properly?

Right now I see it the way it is shown in the first image.

Thank you, @Jarda. So, it’s likely that there’s something wrong with my environment. Is it correct?

I’m also seeing all 3 entries as in your first screenshot.

Thank you, @tomzag. It seems that correctly displayed is the majority.

This issue is similar to the EDU flag problem that occurred previously. In the past, there were issues such as “Adobe Express add-ons becoming completely unsearchable, non-installable, and unsendable” and “Adobe Exchange plugins becoming unsearchable.”

Thank you for investigating this, @Erin_Finnegan.

Thank you! This makes so much more sense now.

I also can still see “All plugins”.

I asked @Madhur and he says the EDU flag is not at fault.

If you go to the “About Creative Cloud” can you check the version there?

Thank you for your reply. Here is the version.

@Erin_Finnegan No progress has been made since requesting the version information. What is the current status?

Thank you for waiting a week on this matter.

I’m asking @Madhur .

There is a known issue where K-12 education accounts (elementary school and high school) are blocked from using the Exchange, but I don’t know if that is all regions (including Japan)… and the examples I’ve seen don’t look like this.

What happens if you log out of the Creative Cloud desktop app, and completely restart your machine? See if you can check the same view in a logged out state (this may not actually be possible). Then log back in and see if it is the same.
