CEP On After Effects Running on Apple Silicon

Hi All

So unlike what has been previously posted by Adobe: “CEP extensions will not work on Apple Silicon” I found out that my CEP extension works on the After Effects version 22.3 running both in Intel (Rosetta) mode AND in Apple Silicon mode. Is this expected behaviour?

CEP extensions are unsupported on Apple Silicon only for Photoshop. After Effects supports CEP for both Rosetta emulation and native.

So the behavior you’re seeing is normal.

@kerrishotts I’m looking to create an Adobe Illustrator extension and upload it/sell it to the world through the Adobe platform. Any tips or advice for this? Couldn’t find a category for illustrator

UXP has not been released for Illustrator yet. Adobe haven’t said when it will.
In the meantime you can still use CEP until it’s phased out - but that comes with it’s own Issues.

You can build an Illustrator extension using either CEP or C++ (or a combination of both)… or just make and sell scripts for Illustrator.

The posters above are correct. When UXP comes to Illustrator we’ll open a category here for Illustrator.
