I’ve developed several applications to automate Photoshop using JavaScript and COM/AppleScript.
With UXP being the future, should I expect that COM or AppleScript will soon become unusable for commanding Photoshop from an external application? How imminent is this change?

By “COM” you mean VBS Scripts, right?
As far as I can tell after discussing this with my coworkers, it’s unlikely that either VBS or AppleScript will stop working anytime soon.
That said, as UXP scripting becomes available in different applications, it’s possible that newer features might not be scriptable via VBS or AppleScript. Particularly if you see that the documentation hasn’t been updated in a long time, that’s a sign that the product team isn’t actively supporting those… if that makes sense.

I plan to port some of my applications to UXP, but unfortunately, others are too complex to port. I’ve had a bad experience in the past porting them to Flash, so if possible, I prefer to continue using AppleScript/VBS.
