I’ve had customers who install third-party and Marketplace plugins supposedly successfully as they show up in the “Manage plugins” section of CC app, but when they open Ps, their Plugins menu is empty.
In two cases, the problem appears to be that the customer has partitioned their hard drive so that the apps are on one partition and the user data is on another. That means the Ps and CC reside on the “apps” partition and plugins placed in the User Library > Application Support > Adobe > UXP > Plugins > External folder get installed on the “user data” partition. It looks like plugins from the Marketplace get correctly placed in the “External” folder, but they aren’t accessible in the Plugins menu in Ps. For third-party plugins installed via .ccx files, they don’t even make it to the “External” folder. They just show up in the “Manage plugins” section of the CC app.
Is there a solution to this? I’m told that Apple actually recommends this partition arrangement, or at least tells users how to create it. But, it looks like it causes a major problem for accessing plugins in Ps.
Can Ps and CC apps be safely installed on the “users data” partition so they can properly install and link to plugins in the “External” folder?
Is there a way to point CC and Ps to the “External” folder being on a different partition so that installation of and access to plugins works appropriately?
